Southway’s fantastic partnership with South Manchester Credit Union has achieved national recognition by winning the Most Innovative Partnership category at the Housing Digital Innovation Awards in Birmingham on 12th February.
The team faced strong competition for the award as there were 10 others on the shortlist, but the judging panel have clearly been impressed with the support the partnership provides to tenants.
The partnership began in 2014 with the Southway Solutions Loans, which provides our tenants with an affordable alternative to high interest borrowing options such payday and doorstep loans.
Since then the scheme has given loans to more than 2,000 tenants which have helped with bills of every kind from car repairs to new washing machines.
The partnership has developed other joint projects including a furniture loan, and a unique course for 16-24-year-olds called MyBnk Money Management. MyBnk and Stop Loan Sharks are partners in the course.

Southway was also shortlisted for the Best Digital Transformation and Best Digital Experience categories at the awards. Although we didn’t win those being shortlisted for a national award is still a wonderful achievement and the teams involved should be very proud.
