Manchester City Council winter fuel hardship fund
Manchester City Council has created a hardship fund as part of its Household Support Fund to help pension-age residents in need with winter fuel assistance. This fund is specifically for people who are in need but will not receive the winter fuel payment automatically.
This service is for Manchester residents only and not Greater Manchester. Please check the postcode checker below for clarification.
You can apply for the fund on the City Council website.
To be eligible you must:
- be aged 66 or over on 23 September 2024 and will not receive a Winter Fuel Payment from the Department for Work and Pensions.
- not be in receipt of Council Tax Support or Housing Benefit from the council. If you receive either and are aged 66 or over on 23 September 2024, you will be sent a payment automatically – you do not need to apply.
- live within the area covered by Manchester City Council to qualify for a payment from this fund – if you are unsure, you can use the City Council's postcode checker.
Payments will be made as follows:
- Residents aged 66-79 will receive a payment of £150
- Residents aged 80 or over will receive a payment of £200
Only one Household Support Fund payment will be made to each eligible household.
