We need to apologise to you. In the letter you received this week telling you about your rent increase from 7th April, we included information about your rent this year too. The letter had information about the weekly rent but we provided monthly figures too because some tenants told us that would be useful information to include.

If you are one of our tenants living in Manchester the monthly rent figure for this year is wrong in your rent increase letter. We want to reassure you that this is a mistake in the letter only and not with your rent account. All the other figures in the letter are correct including your new rent from 7th April.

We’re very sorry but for tenants living in Tameside and Cheshire East the monthly amount for this year and from April are both wrong, though the weekly rents are accurate. We are sending an amended new rent increase letter to tenants in Tameside and Cheshire with the correct monthly figures.

Earlier this week, some tenants (including tenants who have paid by direct debit now or in the past, but also some who have never paid by direct debit) may have also received an incorrect text message about direct debit payments and  we’d like to sincerely apologise for any confusion caused.

This has now been fixed and we’re working hard to improve our systems and processes, so these mistakes don’t happen again.

There’s no need to call us to check anything about these errors, but if you do want to check your rent account, you can do this online at https://my.southwayhousing.co.uk/ or call your income officer.

Please do check the advice in your rent increase letter as this will tell you whether you need to do anything to amend your payments depending on how you pay your rent.
