Our unique 'Quids In' food club, run by volunteers, is aimed at the many households in south Manchester struggling to feed their families each week.
'Quids In’ offers members a variety of food worth at least £15 for just a £3 weekly membership fee – a sum that helps to pay food charity Fareshare and other club costs.
Unlike food banks, Quids In is an ongoing membership club offering fresh and chilled items that can be difficult to find and expensive to buy locally.
Who is eligible?
We are currently unable to accept non-Southway tenants to our Quids In food clubs due to the limited food supplies we’re receiving. Any Southway tenant that claims at least some Housing Benefit or Universal Credit is eligible to apply. Please be aware that there is sometimes a waiting list for clubs.
We have 5 clubs across Chorlton, Merseybank, Burnage West, Burnage East and Old Moat:
Chorlton: Thursdays 10.30am - 1pm at Brookfield House (white building in Chorlton Park, Nell Lane entrance), Nell Lane, Chorlton, M21 7UD
Merseybank: Fridays 12pm - 3pm at the Pop Up Shop on Merseybank Shopping Parade, 42 Merseybank Avenue, Chorlton, M21 7NN
Burnage East: Wednesdays 10.30am – 1pm at N-Gage Youth Centre, 345 Burnage Lane, Burnage, M19 1EN

Update: New trial club in Burnage
We're running a new trial Quids In food club, on Monday evenings in Burnage.
Members will pay a one-off £3 joining fee for a three month membership and £4 per week.
Each week you get to choose from the items available to a value of around £20, including chilled, frozen and fresh items.
If you are interested in joining or finding out more, please emailquidsin@southwayhousing.co.ukwith your name, address and phone number (mobile number if possible).
If you are unable to access email, please call our Customer Hub on 0161 448 4200. Please note that we cannot guarantee a place as we have a limited number available but will let you know as soon as possible and signpost you to other services if that will be helpful.
What do we ask of members?
We ask members to attend every week if possible, as we need to know how many to expect so that food doesn’t get wasted.
How do I join?
You can apply by emailing quidsin@southwayhousing.co.uk with proof of your Housing Benefit/Universal Credit claim, or call 0161 448 4200 to speak with Maureen Ward. Please keep in mind that some clubs have waiting lists.
